So I am planning on using some flat branches towards the top of my tank to grow some plants on. They will be able to grow up and out of the water. I'm planning on having the branch under the filter outtake (sprinkler rod type) (sorry morning and my brain isn't working yet) to help with oxygenation and to defuse the water flow. I'm trying to find some type of substrate that can be safely used to help anchor the plants but won't be disturbed by the water flow (no clay, sand, or dirt) (I've already eliminated growstones (pH problems) and fake aquarium store gravel like substrate). Has anyone used Crystal Fluorite in their tanks? Is it safe? It is very pretty.

Ok, never mind about the Fluorite. Just found out it clouds and is slightly water soluble. What about labradorite?

Right, ok, labradorite also a bad idea. *Head desk* I found some reasonably priced Jade I may go with unless someone has any other ideas for something to anchor the plants with.
