Hey.
Some of my Triturus larvae are beating up 6 centimeters as so and to avoid them to morph so soon i wanted to make them go trought a pause for growing the larger they can and then by that time leave the water. Madeira is a sub-tropical island unfortunately so the temps are, lets say, hot all year and by this time we´ve got 20-25ºC during days witch is enough to triger morphing in large larvae. Anyway I can only let them at 2ºC and I have experimented with smaller individuals with no mean consequences so far (during 24h only). But I remember reading some care-sheet in adults newts (Triturus) saying to avoid cooling them with food in stomach...So does this apply to larvae as well? May they die if have food in stomach? I feed my larvae earthworms witch is a heavy food...Does it kill them by getting putrid in their stomach like in adult newts? Cheers and Thanks,
