Well I was reading through the posts here, and there was one about female axolotls getting fatter at this time of year because there producing eggs? Well I noticed that my wild type axolotl is also quite a chubby little fellaw, and from the sexing page it appears to be more likely she is female, rather than male.
My other axolotl, happens to be growing rather rapidly at the moment, and i've noticed that his cloaacal region is starting to protrude...
I read the page on bioligy and both my axolotls have the tips of there toes the colours to indicate sexual maturity...so now im beginning to wonder if my wild type is pregnant?

If so is there any way to tell for definate?

I'm not sure what you mean by pregnant, as axolotls don't carry their young like humans do. They do become gravid, meaning they are basically full of eggs, which is probably what is going on with your female.

Axolotls don't get 'pregnant'. The females will carry eggs regardless of whether a male is available.

If you have a female who is carrying eggs, and a male who is inclined to drop spermatophores, the female may pick them up and lay eggs. However, it's not guaranteed that if you have a male and a female together, you'll get eggs.

Oh yes...of course...i've just made myself sound incredibly stupid xD

Hmm...I will just have to wiat and see if anything turns up!
