Just thought people might think this is a neat photo.... I kept some of the shed one time when I cleaned my tank, and saw this cyclops copepod feeding on the dead shed newt skin!

I am so new to everything, I have to ask, what is a copepod?
I am doing research, not just relying on reading posts, but it is hard to get up to speed when everyone knows so much more.

That is very cool )
Far as I remember you only get those guys if you have good water quality, right? So grats on that too.
Do you have a microscope with a camera built in? I could never get a decent pic of anything thru my microscope.

copepods are little microlife... they are usually found in ponds and stuff.. If you have an aquatic tank chances are that one day you will see one... They are white and will usually be on the tank wall.... they are harmless to the newts so don't worry... Just Google cyclops copepod, and you will see what they look like when they are alive....

I have a seperate camera atachment that Celestron makes.... It plugs into your USB... It is like a microwebcam... you just take off the lens, and the camera sits... I dont have any good webcam recording programs, but there are free sites like Cameroid and some others where they allow you to take snapshots and download them.... Thus far that is what I have been doing...

That is indeed very cool!! I will go and Google that. :D

Alive under a microscope.....squashed under a slide......

Cocepod and Cyclops are very distinct things even being both really tiny. Those are without doubt Cyclops.
