Hi,

Im in Australia, Gold Coast. Summer hasn't started yet, and my axie's tank is sitting on 20 degrees Celsius, on average. I am investigating cooling my tank. I have a couple of questions and ideas.

Questions: Is there any automatic cooling system for my 107L tank? If so, what are they, where can i find them?

At the moment, i am using bottles of frozen water and that is sort of working out. I am not home for about 8 Hours a day, so i can't really monitor the temp. I am simply putting a bottle in when i leave in the morning.

I have recently purchased a pump (not filter, just pump) I am thinking of using it to make some sort of cooling system.

If anyone has any ideas of how i can monitor the temp and/or cool it down, could you please help me! :)

What systems are you using? How well does yours work?

I'm in Vic, and have the same issue as you.
I only just got my baby today and the tanks currently 15c, but I'm anticipating some very hot days to come.
I found this article very helpful Caudata Culture Articles - Cooling
Try searching "chiller" in the forum search bar, there's alot of good posts around already that are very helpful. Many people use small fans to blow on the top of the tank which can be effective. I think down the track though, a proper chiller would be worthwhile - cheapest I saw was $350.
Also, I ordered a device off ebay to trial, if I have any luck I'll let you know. :D

I almost purchased a chiller. But had to pull out….. the reason was the chiller was recommended to do 50L…… My tank is 107L so i need a bigger, more expensive machine. I wonder if i can find any second hand?

I was looking at the method of the ice cooler and pump. I have the pump for it, i just an having trouble finding an ice cooler that is easy for me to cut a hole in for the hose. I looked in bunnings but i haven't been able to find an 'ice box' like that one.

Check out Guppy’s Aquarium Products Online, the guy is based at Burleigh, poor customer service but the products cheap. It's best to get the model above the model rated for your size and flowrate. There is also a guy at Harbour Town who services them cheaply.
