Question: Confused about my filter!

Ok so I have a question, I have a internal cartridge filter and it says I change the cartridges once a month. I was wondering if doing so will cause my cycle to crash? Thank you in advance

what brand and model is it? If their is more than one cartridge maybe switching out one at a time is best. Off hand it sounds like a small filter that won't provide adequate biological filtration. More information is needed to make a good assessment.
