Complete cannibalism?

Today while changing the water in one of my tadpole/juvenile tanks, I noticed there was one resident missing!
My wife says she saw one of the larger juveniles spitting out lots of bits of something but she couldn't identify what it was. There are no remains of a corpse in the tank.
Although there is the well known limb biting off among youngsters, is it normal for one to completely eat a whole other one?

Axies general thinking is "if it fits in my mouth ill eat it" so if there was that much size difference then yeah it could have eaten the little one
Its best to split them up into bigger/little ones to stop any eating of body parts. or make sure they are very well fed.

I've split them up as much as I can, but I only have two tanks. To be honest, the most leg-eating I have observed was between two of very similar size. It seems to me that as soon as their back legs are formed, they suddenly become much more predatory.
In the meantime I've put so many bloodworms in their tank they will explode if they eat them all!

Haha make sure to keep the water clean after they have eaten then!
Generally when an axie is full, they will still lunge at things but with less umphhh and if eating the object seems like too much hard work, they will just spit it out again, so as long as they are full, they should be fine
