Hi folks,

just seeking some experiences from fellow keepers and experts here.;)
comparing Paramesotriton, Pachytriton and Cynops.

which is easier to keep and breed?

which are your favorites? :D

i actually find Pachytriton a easier species to keep.

thanks and have a nice day!

I think Cynops are easiest, most common, smallest and most peaceful of those three genera, they're also more tolerant in temperature.

The three genuses are easy to keep provided that they are healthy.
However, breeding Pachytriton is VERY difficult, and Paramesotriton species morph surprisingly small, which makes them hard to raise. They also take a long time to reach maturity so it´s a laborious job.
Of the three, the easiest to breed, by far, are Cynops. As long as they are healthy and properly housed, they´ll breed, in most cases without any conditioning. They too morph at a very small size but i think they are generally considered easier than Paramesotriton morphs, despite being themselves quite hard to raise.
My personal favourites are Cynops. I don´t keep any of the other genuses, which might have quite a lot to do with my decision here but having seen all of them, i do find Cynops to be the most atractive(not counting P.laoensis, of course).

AW: Comparing Paramesotriton Pachytriton Cynops

Good morning,

in my opinion there is no easy answer possible.
And because of this conflict, i keep them all;-))))

Any species has his own specifics and attraction.
When the conditions for housing are species-appropriate all of these genus are long living.

Greetings Ingo V.
