I have this lovely little axolotl called Aphrodite who has been golden albino for the past 12 months of her young life. At least we though she was.

Before 2 weeks ago:

Now she's a delightful brown colour, approximately the same as the colour of the rocks. It's really annoying because I can rarely find her anymore lol. I took after photos but then the camera decided it wanted to go flat and I have run out of batteries. I wasn't aware that this is normal in axolotls who ahave already developed their full colour. Has she just changed to suit her surroundings? Or is she just special? What else could it be???

Hehe... the Lord works in mysterious ways... the camera decided to work again. Aphro is the one on the left. Aphro used to be about the same colour as Toady (on the right).

hi,

I believe it is possible for color to change slightly, your axie is still a golden albino just a different shade. If you look at this thread http://www.caudata.org/forum/showthread.php?t=53231&highlight=paddis this person's leucistic started all pink and developed pigments after while.

I thought this too but she's been the same colour for 12 months. Why the sudden change? None of her similarly coloured siblings have done anything like this. It's been a pretty drastic colour change... she's gone from orangey-yellow to brown. I think it's weird

Shouldn't be difficult - she is beautiful!
