could I put these species together? I am planning on raising 2-3 of the efts so how many larvea would that be? how many would I need. if i got 4 it would be fine. how much gallons would the larvea need? any more advice on breeding and raising NVV would be appreciated.

I would put the firebelly in when they were the same size. Well, i thought it would be good to have them interact with one of there own...a...group? could i put a piece of glass in there and put the firebelly on the other side with a ceiling so he won't escape anywhere. what should i feed and provide in the tank for this species' larva

OK. but have you bred them? i need someone to answer these species specific questions.

Hi Wyatt, MikeE, Mikeg,

I'll be moving this thread to the Salamander and Help section at the end of this week, as I feel it's more appropriate there.
Wyatt, N.v.viridescens is native in the United States and C.orientalis comes from Asia. If advanced animals such as humans still have a hard time trying to not kill each other (see Iraq), there is little hope that lower animals such as salamanders would try to coexist peacefully.

(Ok PETA people, try not to get into a fight with me about "lower" vs. "higher"--you know what I mean.)

Mixing species from different continents who have not evolved coping mechanisms with each other is risky at best and disastrous at worst.

i know i can't put them together. i need to know the best and not so good methods of keeping the gravid females, caring for them, and caring for the larva. i already knew species mixing is bad, so i don't even know how this started.

my last post might have not gone through yet cuz i don't see it. Mike, if this is a forum to get info at, and people just want to know a little, why should they get their post deleted. in my last post i was wonderin how my thread even started, not the arguement. thanks, and sorry for the confusion

All right, moved this thread to its proper section, my sense of balance is now restored. Comment away.

Wyatt, I know my reading comprehension isn't the best, but I answered the question in your first post in this thread. So that's my explanation of how I started on my "species mixing is 99.999999% bad" comment.

As for breeding tips, I'll let the experts take over.

Wyatt,
Suck it up no species mixing is allowed. If your mean, cruel....... than kill the things but if your smart you would save them, save your money , save your time and hardships..

Is anyone going to answer his questions regarding raising the larvae? I don't have any experience with those species, but it would be nice if someone else could help him out with his other questions, instead of just criticising him for one element of his post.
