Hello, I have a question about cleaning the tank. What is the best way. Should I completely empty it out and refill with fresh water or just half empty it and fill it up with fresh water that way.

You should never completely empty your tank.

Do you have a siphon/gravel hose thing?

When doing cleaning/waterchanges you should clean/siphon out 20-30% of tankwater per week if you have an established/cycled tank. If your tank isn't cycled then 20-30% of tankwater should be changed every day or every 2 days to keep toxins down and safe for your axies. See: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/cyclingEDK.shtml

If you don't have a siphon/gravel cleaner , you can use a hose pipe cut down to siphon the water out. What are you currently using to clean it out?

So do i just empty half the water and refill it with fresh water. Do i have to add anything to it?

No, you don't empty half the tank. You siphon/empty 20 or 30% (approximately 1/4 of your tankwater) out of the tank . But before doing that you need to make sure you have a bucket of tapwater with added dechlorinator drops , it should be left at least an hour in the same room as the tank so its the same temperature when you change it. (This is also known as water ager or water conditioner - ie something that removes chlorine and chloramines from the tapwater. If you don't have one you can pick a bottle of it up at petshops or some supermarkets in the pet section)
