I have heard there is some chemical I can rinse my new plants in to get rid off of any possible bad bacteria/snail eggs etc.
Does anybody remember what this chemical is called and can I just buy it from any pharmacy?

alot of people do a bleach dip but the ratio escapes me right now!

Potassium permanganate. It's a really dark purple powder. I have no idea where you'd get it; I've only seen it in chemistry labs.

well some people say that putting new plants under tap water is enough but I do a small salt bath or leave them in a container with myxazin or methylene blue for a couple of hours and wash it again under running tap water.

I rub the leaves of the plant in running water and the plants last and no dessies or nastys get in the tank

Myself I put them in a bowl of water with a drop of bleach in it, and leave for about 10 mins. Then rinse them many times in tap water afterwards to get rid of traces of bleach and anything else
