Its time to clean my gravel, should I buy a gravel cleaner or a vacuum cleaner? I have a waterfall style bio filter so will the vacuum work on that? Also because my tank is 4.5ft long should I buy the largest of what ever is recomended?

A siphon is usually more effective than a 'vacuum'. For the most part, I think those are just a waste of money. Some good ol' elbow grease will get your tank cleaner than technology will.

What do you mean when you ask if a vacuum will work on your filter?

The guy says that it connects to the air line of the filter.
With the gravel cleaner should I buy a large one because I have a large tank?

I'd go with a medium sized one. It's easier to control the flow of water, and you have more maneuverability within decorations.
