I want to begin preparing a 29 gallon tank for 2 juvi axolotls to live in. The problem is this tank was previously a hospital tank for a set of angel fish with a fungal disease, so it was continuously full of malachite green. It's my understanding that treatments like that are highly toxic to an axi, and I also don't want them to contract a fungal disease. What's the best way to clean this tank to make it safe for axolotl? Or is it just too risky? So far I was thinking several water/vinegar rinses and then several with very hot water being sure to scrub the whole tank.

You could also use bleach but you'll have to let it evaporate for several weeks and then check the water using a plant or a snail to ensure there are no more bleach residues. How are the axies now?
