Chunks missing from tail

When I brought Aristotle he had little chunks missing from his tail. Is there anything I can do to help him grow it back?

Good water parameters I.e 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and less than 40ppm nitrates as well as a stable temperature between 16-18 degrees and it should heal up on its own.

On this same note I've had my 2 axies since may and probably the second week of having them (I'm gonna guess around May 20th) one took a little nip out of the other one's tail... there are now 2 tiny (and I do mean tiny!) chunks missing out of the top of his tail fin ever since...should I be worried that it never grew back at all? the chunks have simply been staying about the same as he's been growing
