Hi ! Do anybody know the common name in chinese of Cynops orientalis ?
In japanese it's "China-Imori" but no idea about what is it in chinese...}

how do you want to know the name of the Chinese Fire Belly?
The pronouciation? Cause Chinese is very unlike Japanese....

It should be written like this... The pronouciation is for mandarin, but I dont know how the numbers should sound like. Those should be variation of emphasis (ending). And different province in China use a slightly or very different pronouciation. Here is the more common one.

Thanks a lot !
If I wanted to know that it's because I write a book about C. orientalis and C. pyrrhogaster !}

Hi.

In Japanese, C. orientalis is "shina-imori" not "china-imori"

Thanks Tim ! I found the 2 names, with "China" and "Shina" but more often with a C. But thanks a lot for the information !

No problem. But there's no question about it. Spelling it with a "c" would not be simply another form of romanization of Japanese script, it would simply be wrong

no matter how frequently it might have appeared somewhere because no word "china" exists in the Japanese language.

The word "shina" (spelled with or without an "h") means China, though that country is usually referred to in Japanese as "chugoku" (with a long "u" vowel).

If you'd like further detail, please have a look at the Wikipedia entry for the word:
