Chinese Firebelly Newt Question. . .

Alright I bought this chinese firebelly newt and he's about three to four inches long. He seems pretty healthy (or so I think) I did a bunch of research and he's going to be placed in his own ten gallon tank along with a little island for him to perch on and... sun bath or whatever it is he does there. Okay so i found him today shedding.... It's all in one piece which I read is good and signs that the process is coming along good but I still want to know.. Is it normal for him to be shedding right after I got him? Is there any way I can make the process easier for him? I haven't fed him today also in fear of disturbing him. And it is also nice and cold in my room~!
