I got a chinese firebelly from a petstore about 8 years ago, it's about 9 years old and a male. I used to have 2 others but it killed them a few days after I got them, so I never brought any more after that. At the store it was skinny and would never go in the water, it lived on land and almost dried out many times. All it's life i've given it basic care, and for about 6 years it had a very basic diet and water with chlorine in it. The recent 2 years I had more money than 8 years ago when I was a little kid, so I improved the newts diet and water quality, and it lives in a larger tank now, it also stays in the water now 24 hours a day. It's no expensive setup, but the newt apparently is thriving.
So how long can they live for? I got the newt for 99 cents (U.S. dollars) and it was worth every penny.
