Hello, I recently purchased my third firebellied newt, who within a few days of purchase developed a large circular sore on his tail. That was yesterday. I removed him from my 10 gallon tank and placed him in a critter keeper with damp paper towels. Today, the infection has spread to the other side of his tail and his arm, and he has already lost a finger to it. I got some medication for fish bacteria from the local pet store, and I'm using that, but I'm wondering if any of the more experienced members here have any useful advice? I'll also post a picture from yesterday.
Also, the pet store has Methylene Blue, but I'm unsure of how to use that with a newt....
Thanks!

Get the animal cool/cold (possibly even refrigerate if nowhere else in the house is cool). I wouldn't bother with methylene blue. If the fish meds you are using are Melafix, I wouldn't bother with that either. Some people claim success with antibiotics, but there's no guarantee.

Thank you very much! I was unable to find that health section before in my research, but that is very useful, and he's doing better already. Thank you again!
