My chinese fire-belly newt just hatched, ive put some young live daphnia in with it, should i be worried if its not eating straight away ??

No..it won´t eat for the first few days...usually 2-3.
Until then it will survive on the remaining yolk, and will probably move very little or nothing at all.

Of course, Azhael is correct. I could see the yolk string attached to a couple of my hatchlings. You will know it is eating as it will sort of hop in the water, but give it a couple of days.

Good luck - I've got about 30 larvae ranging from 2 months to newly emerged and still some eggs...
