My dad, being the awesome guy he is, got me a chiller for my axol tank as a surprise late birthday gift. Problem is, he didn't know the specifics that axols need to stay stress free, and got me a chiller that puts out quite a stream of water. We're trying to devise a plan to slow dow. the stream/impact from the water, but I'm afraid to put him in the tank until I know for sure. Right now, the idea is to run it under an under gravel filter platform, so it disperses out, and rises up, rather than a direct stream. But I'm wonder if that's still going to be too muh od a current.

Has anyone had any experience with this? What did you do, and did it it work?

Thanks!

I'm not sure if this will 100% work with your situation, but my tank had too much water flow so we put this mesh stuff covering where the water comes out of the filter so the water will still gets by but the current isn't as strong.

I know I read somewhere here that someone uses a bath loofa in their tank to help disperse the outflow. Plus their axie enjoys climbing on it. Maybe that's an idea as well?

Yes I saw that too, it was genius . I used to use the bath net sponge for lots of thing ( especially scrubbing algea or housing worms, but natural loofa is awesome idea and good for housing good bacteria while keeping water clear. Naturally you'll need to clean it from times to time or just replace it . I don't have time to shop for more . Now I just place the strong bubble stone underneath the water stream it will cancel out the water pressure by turning it in to bubbles, I call it silent waterfall. Nature is wonderful that way. Cheap, easy and long lasting. I have 100g uv filter in 30g tank with air bubble pushing up against the water streaming down, my axolotl doesn't even effect by it. More like they love to take a ride up to the surface using the bubbles on purpose. It must be fun

What do you mean by natural loofa?

I was thinking they just meant the colorful puffy one's you get from the store for like $1 or so.

Was actually thinking about picking up some for my babies to play with, but if that isn't what you meant, I'm glad I didn't. lol

Or get a filter intake sponge and put it over the outlet....maybe zip tie it to the end so it doesn't blow off.
