hello, I have an aquarium filled with 150litres, I do not understand chiller specs, if someone could just tell me if either are suitable.

Power: 130W
Voltage: 220V
Frequency: 50Hz
Refrigerating Capacity: 85W
Recommended Water Volume: <60L
Pump Outflow: <=500L <
Dimension: 210 x 250 x 180mm Weight: 6.0Kg

or
  • VOLT. : 220~240V (not suitable for USA110V)
  • FREQ. : 50/60Hz
  • POWER: 200W
  • REFRIGERATING CAPACITY: 150W
  • RECOMMENDED AQUARIUM SIZE: <100L <26Gal
  • RECOMMENDED PUMP OUTFLOW: 1000L 264Gal
  • DIMENSION: 260×310×205mm
  • WEIGHT: 8.5Kg 18.7Lb

Seems like neither are going to be powerful enough to accommodate the size of your tank. The recommended water volume is the spec to look at. If you have more water than the recommended amount, the chiller will not have much of an impact on the temperature of the tank.

indeed, I'd already worked that out :)

But sounds perfect for Tom's setup.

care to recommend a mini chiller that you speak of?

Although with my purchases now, I'm having to consider that I'm almost sure within the next few months an upgrade is required. I cannot fathom keeping Fred in a 60l tank when he's bigger.

I really would prefer something larger for him to swim about in.

Anyway I'll make a separate request for a smaller chiller so as not to HJ the OP's post.

Yea I noticed the recommended water volume was too small, but I though with axolotl current's the pump volume would have been the one I was looking for, my filter is a little under powered for my tank, but thank you for advice.

Cheers daz I hope that is till there on friday!

I have had to put my guys in the fridge it has been 23degree for about 10days and is now 24!

i know mate,

I'm in the UK too. :)

I'm managing to keep water at about 20.5

That's ok, can live with that.

Fred doesn't seem disturbed.

Cheaper option, buy an ice pack from poundland and save £198 ;)

That is just a bit more affective than the ice bottle method, unless you do it precisely the constant temp change may cause more stress than constant high temp.....I would much rather have a chiller set it to 17degree and not worry

agreed thats my thoughts exactly.

How are the fans going for you daz, my little guy is in the exact same tank was thinking of getting some for him as he will be big enough to go in big tank in a few months, so no point in getting two chillers,

I have an airstone a mesh hood and am keeping tank at 21 with ice bottle method, that is just getting stressfull

with the dual fan and lid on getting 20.5 - 20.9 during the day, down to 19 at night.

No stress, just a little noise.

You should get one, only tenner.

Although I'm sure you could rip apart a notebook cooler for less, you'd still need the inverter.

I'm looking getting some big 12cm pc fans (quieter) and mounting two hopefully would improve airflow with less noise.

not having any joy on mini chillers that go down to what we need.

Or could go whole hog and have in / out.

I have the HC-150A chiller with a 110lt tank and it works perfectly. Just keep in mind you will need an external pump as well, with enough power to pump the water through the chiller and back into the tank. An external canister filter would be suitable, its what I now use.
