Does anyone know a petstore in Chicago or near there that sells tarichas? a friend will be visiting me... THANKS!
 
I saw some at Golden Aquarium on Halstead St. when i went to buy some worms the other day. They also have some of the smallest firebellies i have every seen. I dont know if they were a shipment or if someone brought some in. A lot of Local people give them turtles, leopard geckos, and frogs/salamanders, soemtimes even plants. Yes, I have seen it first hand...I really do not go in many petstore in the city because this one is by my house. Maybe some could tell you another place also, you can visit all the petstore. I once saw some at the aquarium store in Park Ridge, but that store is too expensive and i havn't been there in a while.

Good luck on your Chicago Tarichas hunt, dont really see much of the salamanders/newts arround here.
 
My friend that's visiting me is going to be visiting another friend near Madison before she comes. So if anyone knows a place in or near Madison that sells Tarichas, as well as in or near Chicago, I'd be very grateful! You could PM me if you don't want to post.

    Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
