Hey everyone i'm looking into keeping Axolotls. i was wondering where you guys thought the best place to get a tank would be. in the past when i have kept tortoises i have had them in very large rubbermaids. Would a small rubbermaid container be okay for keeping Axolotls?

i was also thinking about shelling out a little bit for a nice aquarium. where do you think would be a good place to buy one cheaply?

thanks

if you watch the big box pet store AKA pets mart, Pet Land, Super Pets, They often run the $1.00/Gallon tank sale for the glass.

Just check their ads every Sunday to see whats going on sale for that week.

If you happen to live in Pa or close That Fish Place in Lancaster is currently running one of these sales on tanks up to 90 gallons!

Another good place to check is Craigslist. Often people are moving and just need the tank out of their way so they'll sell it for cheap - filters, stands, and accessories are usually included too!

$1.00/Gallon tank thats not bad i'll have to keep an eye for that.

i'm going to spend some time looking at freecycle too.

Rubbermaid's make fine tanks. I used them for years. But I ALWAYS see tanks on craigslist, and freecycle isn't bad either. Usually you have to post a 'wanted' ad. Also, when the weather's right, garage sales are another good place.

OHHH i forgot to say that all my lavae are in tupperware containers for now untill they get bigger and can actually hunt instead of snapping at everything that moves :)

I scored a 40 breeder for $50 on craigslist.
