Hey guys,

I've had my cfbn since Feb this year. Yesterday I noticed he wasn't moving very much, and seemed to be having difficulty swimming. He also was not interested in food. The tank temperature is around 18 degrees C. I was worried he might drown since he couldn't swim well, so I've put him in very shallow water in a tupperware tub. I also put him in the fridge for a while to cool him down. Is there anything I can do? If you need more info let me know.

Thanls!

Assuming it doesn't fluctuate much, it doesn't sound like temperature is the issue. Have you made any recent changes to it's general care? Did you change the water? When was the last water change? What is the tank size? What do you feed your newt? Does he have tankmates? Any info you can provide might be useful.

It sounds like the temperature might actually be too cold. Don't quote me, but I've had firebellies for twelve years and I think their temperature has been between forty and sixty most of the time. Although they do like cold water, you might want to check up on it. Lethargy is usually a sign that his body is fighting something.

Excuse me I had my measurements confused. 18 C should be fine.
