I have had 8 Chinese Firebellies for nearly a year now.
Two of them have me scratching my head.
If I give them a surface in a dry area (like floating cork or one of those floating islands from the pet store) they both find the darkest place and seem to try to hibernate.
They won’t eat and seem to be sleeping, because of this I have only been providing them with aquatic surfaces like floating plants.
They stay awake this way and will only eat from time to time with hand feeding.
Is this normal? My other 6 newts have grown to be twice their size and eat on their own.
