i got 11 CFB larva a few months back, they all morphed over a month ago and seemed to be doing fine. Two weeks ago i realized one of the newts had lost both his front feet. i put him in his own container to keep an eye on him. about a week ago, when i was feeding the rest of the newts i found one dead. I couldnt find anything wrong with him. Tonight, when i was feeding them, the one that is missing his feet looks like he's dead, he is not moving that much, i dont think he is going to make it. It looks like he has a clearish, whiteish bubble on the ends of his limbs where the feet are missing...does anyone have any ideas?? and what should i do with the other newts, if it fungus or somethin i dont want them to get it, they are growing and doing so well. Please help.
They are in a plastic container with wet paper towels that are changed every other day. they eat live blackworms and are and inch to an inch .1/2

also, i have been picking them all up, to change there paper towels, including the one that was missing his feet. Thats why i am worried that they all will get what the one without feet has, if he has anythin.... please help, i dont want them all to die

seperate them as much as possible, it could be something wierd like a fungus, but I would think that it is much more likely that you had a biting incident and infection with it.

I had one die last month and I knew he wasn't going to make it. If you don't catch the limb falling off(bitten off) and change to a clean setup and put something like bactine on the wound that day you don't have much of a chance of saving the newt.

Mixing species can be bad, but somtimes having too many of one in one setup lead to accidents. But the one dieing suddenly is bad news. How clean is the setup? filter or not? how much water, how many gallons is the setup? is the water being changed frequently? This is huge warning sign.

they arent in water...they are on wet paper towels. i change them every other day and give them fresh worms every day. The newt with no feet died over night, hope the other ones will do ok.
