I've noticed that out of all my clutches that produced albinos they aren't eating? The goldens, wilds and melanoids are eating the bbs fine but the albinos aren't at all, they are 3 and 2 weeks old roughly but I also have a 10 week old albino that stopped eating after a while and still won't. I fear it's going to starve to death, it stopped growing about 3 weeks ago as well. Are albinos harder to raise for some reason? I don't understand why this is happening?

It's more likely to be a genetic thing rather than an albino thing.

Have you tried segregating them? It could be that the others are just stronger and intimidating them.

My albinos are absolutely fine, in fact they are the most agressive in getting to food first - big, handsome beasties with lovely long fluffy gills.

in every clutch there will be ones who dont do too well
im not sure if all those in your clutch just happen to be albino or if there is a racism issue going on

I'll try segregating them and see what happens, although with the first clutch they were all in their own tubs from the beginning and the albinos still didn't thrive.

I separated mine by color right away (except for Tank the survivor/Tank the Peg and Twins)

I'm still seeing size differences, and I know I feed them lots, so it is mostly genetic.

Okay guys I separated them all, my light is crappy so I have all albinos and goldens in groups of 10 and all the wild and Melanoid in groups of 10. Let's hope they start eating better!

Next question, this is my 10 week old albino that stopped thriving, it is completely white and incredibly hard to photograph, the eyes have no ring/shine. It's only about a inch long, stopped growing 3-4 weeks ago, has it's front arms tho but no sign of the back ones. I'm afraid it's going to die. :(

I've decided to move it to a much smaller shall we say living quarters, I put him in an old pill bottle jar and filled it with brine shrimp cause he wasn't eating in the other tub, I'll let you know if the brine shrimp being in closer proximity changes anything.

1" at 6-10 weeks? That's not normal at all, but then again, it doesn't look skinny or anything, and I think it would have died if it wasn't eating at all.

I promise you this baby hasn't ate in weeks, I've struggled with different ideas to try and get it to eat with no luck. It hasn't had an orange belly in forever, the only thing I can see through the skin (the red spot) is the heart I believe? There are about 8 that just stopped growing weeks ago although this is the only one that quit eating and the only albino as well. All the others are between 2 and 3 inches with nice back legs coming in. I'm not sure why his progress is so delayed in comparison to the others as I've done the same with all of them. I had others that had a deformity live over 4 weeks without eating before passing and if I had of known then what I know now about those ones I would have culled them early on.

They tend to migrate to the corners of the tubs, on the other hand I don't think my iphone is sophisticated enough to pick up something so small in a photo either. It had tons of food in that dish tho.

Well the BBS are roughly the size of the eggs, and I do see some orange, but they should be seen. Is this after the BBS died maybe? Either way, a smaller container may help, but if not, it is what it is. I lost one baby for no obvious reason (the very first one that hatched). Another one looked like it couldn't move it's spine anymore, and I was sure I damaged him with a spoon. :/

Noooooo my brine shrimp are much smaller than the eggs themselves and barely visible to the naked eye, being the same color as that Axie. I buy the San Francisco Bay brand, if that makes any difference? When I took that pic I had just put the brine shrimp in and they were all still there today moving around, I find they live about 48 hours.

Ooooooh my god! We have an orange belly! Woohoo! It's only been in the jar an hour or so too!

Woo!

Congrats. Are these De-capped BBS? I find that my BBS only live a few hours! I feed my guys 10-12 at night, and clean their bowls at 8AM, and very few are left wiggling. Mine are de-capped, so maybe the eggs are smaller due to lack of shell? In either case, I never had impaction issues with Decapped, but if those are shells, I'd be a little concerned.

I don't think they are de capped but one time I ran out of eggs and I was panicking cause I pretty much had to wait until the following day to get more then another 24 hours for them to hatch, when I finally got to feed them there were still tons swimming around, I've noticed it on many different occasions. These are the ones I've been using.

I'm also back to struggling with this little guy, he refused to eat yesterday, is back to being completely empty regardless of the fact he's got tons of food in front of his face. Very confused and upset to say the least as I pour so much time into taking care of these guys and anytime one dies I just get so depressed over it. :(

Have you tried other food? I had to give my babies some baby daphnia when my BBS wouldn't hatch, it worked well. I used my BBS grading filters to select the smallest ones.

But at the end of the day if he won't eat you can't make him, all you can do is give him food and opportunity.
