Can't find the thread--Plant substrate that's lotl safe?

I vaguely remember reading about a substrate for a planted tank that is axolotl safe, but I cannot find it now. I was thinking about using this: Eco Complete Planted Black Aquarium Substrate - Aquarium Rocks and Fish Tank Rock from petco.com

With a shallow layer of sand on top. Is that lotl safe?

I don't recall where that thread is but I asked about it and was told that was one of the best substrate to use with a planted set-up.
I am going to sit down and search for that post.:smile::smile:

I was told to wary of substrates specifically for plants, because some have fertilizer and some are heavy in iron or other random things that aren't safe for axies. I use the carib sea eco complete planted tank substrate and have not had any issues with it. My plants and Axos are doing great with it. I would just make sure you get the fine grade black which is 2mm or less and you will not have to have sand on top. I added some white sand to mine just to add some contrast. Here is a more recent pic of my set up. I added more white but I liked it better when it was darker but it has not fully been mixed in yet as you can see the layer. So it will darken up more as time goes on.
