Hi,
I'm going to start my setup for my 50 gallon tank for my two axolotls, Dim and Sum, currently 6 months old 5" long.
Do anyone for any recommendations on a canister filter? I'm thinking about the Eheim 2215. For regular fish it will be sufficient but I'm wondering if it will be big enough for the amount of waste the two will create. I don't to go too large of a filter that it will make the tank a whirlpool as well.
Thanks for your input!

Hello! I haven't done my research on Eheims, but that one looks like a good size, except for a 50 gallon, that might be a little 'old' - gut feelings. I'm more so a Fluval fanboy so I would recommend the Fluval 306 (some places go on sale for $120 or so so it should be of similar size - freakishly quiet. I use the 306 on my 37 gal cichlid tank. The easy stop lever is a killer feature, so good on the 306.

Hello. I just noticed two notches, white small bubbles on the hind legs of one of my male newts.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
