Firstly, I'd like to introduce you to Morrissey:

And now I'd like to ask a question: Can I use a product called Flourish (by Seachem) safely with my axie? I read something about cuprous compounds on the axolotl.org website and don't know how safe it is. The Flourish product is a freshwater aquarium plant fertiliser. I'm using minimal amounts! Just have to get the Purple Waffle plant going :)

..ps: He's always had those two white discolourations; it shows up on photos but it's actually part of his patterning!

Hi CanberraAxie,

As amphibians, axolotls breathe through their skin. This means that any chemical is a potential danger to them. Axolotls also excrete wastes through their skin (in addition to the more familar way); I think you will find that they produce quite enough fertilizer for your plants on their own. I actually use the aquarium water from water changes to water my houseplants - they love it!

On a side note, I worry about Morrissey swallowing some of those little blue decorative stones when snuffling about the ground for food, and then not being able to pass them out again.

Morrissey is a handsome fellow - great name, too.

So, that was my two cents' worth.
