Can I use one of the mesh breeder nets to keep a slightly too small axolotl separated for a bit while he grows?

I have a breeder net for this guy who came in smaller than I thought. No limbs for through, and his toes seem alright too. I don't want to leave the little guy in a tub of I can help it. I have a very skittish male leucistic in the tank. He's never been aggressive, but is a good couple inches bigger.....so I don't think I want to trust that things will stay mellow. Any other suggestions, or if it isn't great can someone explain why? TIA

Well ...

Positive points :
- safety for the small one
- same water than the rest of the tank

Negative points :
- not much room
- near the surface, and so near the light (if there is a light, of course)
- nothing to hide under (but it could be corrected)
- possible stress source : movements of the other axolotl under him (very strange situation)

Doesn't he need to be quarantined though anyway before being added to the tank? Diseases, etc.

provided the tank is large enough for more than one axolotl and was originally cycled using the 4ppm method the filtration should be able to cope although keep an eye on the levels as they may spike.
