Question: Can I keep 2 adult axolotls in a 20 long?

So I'm getting at least one axolotl after I get out of the hospital, (hopefully in a month, so I have some time to prepare), and I was wondering if a 20 gallon long tank large enough to hold two adults at their full size, or would they be crowded and uncomfortable and possibly hurt each other or themselves?

20 gal is ok, really you can keep two in a 10 gal but that's like bare minimum

When they are adults they don't move around much unless it's for food or a leisurely swim

In a lot of slightly-older on-line info, you will see things like "2 axolotls per 10 gal", but most experienced keepers here recommend 10 gal per axolotl + 10 gal, so for 2 adults, that would be 30 gal.

I believe the 2 axolotls per 10 gal is based on how you can keep them in research facilities, which is not exactly a good quality of life.

I agree. 20 gal at least though but make sure it is 20 gal LONG

Ok, so the dimensions of another tank I'm looking at are 30L, 22.5H, and 12W, is that enough for 2 axies? From aquariumdimensions.com it says that's a 37 gallon

That's definitely enough! You could go up to three in that
