For the next spring I am trynig to plan in a trip to California. The aim is photograph and document the trip to the German Urodela society in october 2006. I have already some good information on the northern part where we will be guided around some interesting spots. I think I will arrive at San francisco, go up North over the Coast ranges then spend some days North (Shasta/Klamath) after which we will descend the Sierra Nevada till deep down around Bakersfield.
For what concerns this Sierra Nevada I am still in search of some good spots where we could find some of the various Batrachoseps (other then attenuates) and Ensatina (adding some color !). Other species in the same will offcourse also be interesting...
I am also interested ot hear about some nice localities where we could maybe find Aneides lugubris (one which I failed to search for in my former trip)
Are there people that have travelled this area and which could help us accros some good spots.
Aslo feel free to send the mail over on my personal email adress for instance for 'tricky' species ...
My only interest is photographing and documenting, no cash & carry. Also any other practical tips you have are welcome.
Anyway it's a long trip for me and I just want to get the maximum out of this. Anybody living that area and having contact local herp societies or so : if they want I can bring over some powerpoint presentations and eventually fill in an evening somewhere (no charge)
Thanks
