Sorry if this isn't the place to put this, and i did search, but came up with so many topics that I don't want to search through every single one. I haven't gotten my axolotls yet because i've recently ran into some financial issues, and I am probably going to hold off on getting them now since i only have one semester left and moving them after five months is going to be a hassle, especially since i want to move to california after school.

But I was under the impression california had a ban on amphibians, but i might be way off since i haven't paid that much attention to it because i hadn't planned on moving to california until very recently.

So, can someone fill me in on this or link me to a tread with answers, because I'm hopelessly confused here.

Thank you!

If not... Go to forums... Axolotls... General discussion... And there will be announcement about them being illegal in California...

Hope you find it.

I believe all non native Ambystoma are restricted here in California.......

you see them for sale occasionally here and there, but you shouldn't.

But that's OK.... Wait till you move and find yerself a larva Dicamptodon.... They are way cool and grow HUGE!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
