Hello, I was wondering how many times a newt sheds his skin in a year (on average). My newt just shed around September and now is shedding again. Does this mean something is wrong? Thanks!

That doesn't sound out of the ordinary at all. I take it the shed came off in one piece?

I´m sure it has shed his skin more times since september...
Normally they eat the skin afterwards so most times we just miss it.

Hey fbn,
this is a normal process. I've lost count of the seedlings skin of my! Do not worry about it! ;) However for the sake of them not intervening in any circumstance, but they never cease to be the skin for you to view, eat-in for re-use the nutrients that it contains!

cheers

It looks to be off now. Thanks!!

yes, some people think they shed once every week - two weeks, other speculate once a month,
It's rare you'll find their skin, as peopel have said they eat it.
In all my time looking after C.orientalis.
i've not seen hundreds of sheds.
and that's years, with alot of newts.

I've had my 2 newts since September and I've witnessed one shedding (possibly a second one), one eating (it was gross) and a couple of skins (one conveniently placed in the food bowl).
