hey, today was a big first, my new C. orientalis had gone aquatic, he was walking on the bottom and doing his newt things (dunno what tho), and i noticed that he had accidentally got himself trapped, so i removed the blockage and he swam rigth to the top and started frantically climbling against the glass, but when i got him back to his mask i noticed a blackish slime coming off his tail and his foot. is he just shedding or is that hi sprecious slime coating? should i be very worried about this?

It sounds like he is shedding. Newts shedded skin is grey to blackish in color. There isnt anything to worry about as long as he can shed easily. Normally they shed on big piece, not little fragments.

yeah, i just saw a big piece of clear-skin looking stuff, so im pretty sure he is shedding.

also i just noticed that he is missing a toe on his back foot, its stumpy and white-ish looking, will he regrow his toe or is he gonna be stumpy? does he need any special care for the toe?

thanks.
