I recently adopted two unwanted firebellies from Craigslist. The guy moved up here (NC) from Florida, and drove them with him - not the best idea.

He fed them commercialized newt pellets. However, they won't eat from me - pellets or live blackworms. Could it just be the stress of moving up, then transferring into a different tank? If so - what should I do?

I also have a small firebelly that I adopted from a local pet store a few months ago. He was fed on the same pellets as the two above, but has stopped eating - no pellets or live foods. His habitat has not changed at all. Any ideas as to why he could be doing that?

Thanks for your help!

Best thing to do is just continue trying to feed him. Try him on chopped earthworms and chopped waxworms. Just try and feed him little amounts to try and coax him into eating. Try feeding live though as movement is the key when feeding newts.

The newts will take time to settle into their new tank.. this may also cause them to stop eating as much. Just make sure theres lots of shady places for them and hidey holes too, and that the water conditions are perfect for them. Less stress will hopefully encourage them to eat more.

I hope they start eating more for you soon! xxxxxxxx and I hope any of this was any help to you at all xx
