That has to be one of my favorite pic sequences! Thanks Tim! The water looks to be a bit shallow, is there a chance that the water will dry up in the summer heat? I cant wait until my C.e.p's get older and look like those two!
 
Beautiful photos Tim! You must be able to go out often to see them...which is quite lucky of you!

That female is quite a looker...is she an exception or more or less an average C.e.p?
 
Danny, they were in a rice paddy that will probably dry up. But there are other places for them to go, the surrounding forest and irrigation ditches for example. They naturally spend quite a lot of time on land, and there are cracks and holes in the limestone formations all over the area that retain moisture.

Joseph, she's nice but not exceptional. The pictures were taken in the far south of Okinawa Island, where they are typically more colorful than elsewhere -- but also increasingly rare due to over-collection and habitat loss. it's really quite tragic.
