Wonderful coloration on this C.e.e individual from the island of Amami Ooshima:

Most C.e.e are a dull chocolate brown and are thus much less likely to show up in the local pet trade than C.e.popei.

Yep, amazing little creature

I got it from an individual who regularly visits the southern islands to research and collect ants. Out of the 150 or so C.e.e I have ever seen, there were only three with this sort of coloration -- and this is the best of them. I have some brightly colored juvies that may turn out something like this in the future though. In any case, I'll be in Amami in December so stay tuned to this channel
