Having a pretty good run so far with last years eggs. Thought I would post up some pictures to share. I keep some on land, but the majority are full aquatic even after morphing which is a huge bonus to me. The largest ones are almost 2". They all feed on blackworms and the aquatic ones are even taking bloodworms.

Learned a lot raising these, hoping for another batch from the adults again in a couple of months.

Big thanks to Cichlidjedi!

They look great! Wonderful newts, always nice to see people working with C. e. popei. It seems like they have become few and far between in the last few years. I would love to work with them again. Have you noticed a difference in coloration between the terrestrial and aquatic juveniles? I've heard that the widespread gold/green coloration requires a terrestrial period to develop fully.

They look great! It's really nice to see people breeding them. While I love axolatls, I have two myself (Anna and Elsa) it's nice to see people breed other species of salamander too. I have two myself, Nerevar and Cynder, and they are fantastic. They are a good size newt and very pretty.

They look great! Congrats on your success. Keep up the good work. Always wanted to work with these, nice to see some still out there and being propagated.

I remember reading that, but can't really say I have noticed a difference. I have less of them on land than I do aquatic, but I would say the difference in % is the same at this stage.

I have received some PM's about selling some of these. I will definitely have some available in the next month or so.

Thanks,
Matt

The amount of green doesn't have anything to do with a terrestrial fase. It depends on wich strain your animals belong to. Animals coming from South Okinawa tend to have a lot more green than the ones coming from North Okinawa. These look a lot like mine and they're from the South.

Edit: You still see a descent amount of them in Europe luckily, especially The Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany.
