Buying Axoloti

My seven year old son really wants an axolotl or two. We are researching how to care for them.

Where is the best place to buy them?

Is it true that they cannot have rocks in the bottom of the tank.

Axolotls aren't always available there, but at least you know your animal is coming from someone knowledgeable in Axolotl care if you have any specific questions for them.

Otherwise there are a couple of online websites that sell them, but it's not my preference to direct you to any one site. If your interested in one of those, a quick Google search should find you some results.

Rocks are not advised for Axolotls. They'll eat anything and everything that can fit in their mouth, which will usually result in ill health. Sand or bare-bottom tanks are the recommended substrates.
