So I had to buy a new filter because my last one had a leak in it and now very small bubbles are forming around where the filter is pouring water in. The bubbles didnt show up for around a week. The filter is an internal filter. Should I be worried or can this happen?

Also the filter is THE only new addition to the tank in last 2 months.

Hi Greg,

Do the bubbles dissapate after awhile or is it some kind of foam? If they dissapate, it is probably normal, although maybe a sign that the water output is a bit strong.

If it is more like a foam, you might need to check the water chemistry. When changing a filter, you loose the beneficial bacteria that had colonized in the older filter. This may lead to a "mini-cycle" until bacteria have colonized the new filter. Might be worthwhile to test the water parameters.
