Bubblers in tanks

I use them. They're good for at least agitating the water's surface, preventing a film buildup.

I have one too. It provides axie entertainment for one of mine it loves to chase the bubbles and as Kaysie says also helps prevent film build up

Cool. I have some here so I might put them in, thanks.
Oh can you leave it bubbling all the time? And will the bubbles cause too much water flow for the axie?

Unless you have a large bubble wand connected to a powerful pump, no, the current won't be too much.

However, do expect to see your axolotls biting the bubbles, sitting on the stone, and riding the bubbles to the surface to swim back down and do it again (I call it the bubble-coaster).

LOL thats sounds like fun! I have a piece of aquarium hose connected to a silent flow 2000 and I'm guessing that might be way to much?? I have never had aqauruims before so I have no idea. My sil gave all of her stuff to me and the air pumps came too

You can buy valves that regulate the flow. They can be picked up at any reputable pet shop.

Also note that using a bubbler increases evaporation, so you may need to top off the tank more than normal.

I have small bubbler in small tank and my axie doesn't seem to notice it. Is it not necessary for adequate oxygenation of the water?

They're not necessary, but helpful for oxygenation. Axolotls have rudimentary lungs and will go to the surface and gulp air if it isn't readily available in the water.

I have a longish bubbler ( about 3 inches in length) that my axolittles ( now approx 3 inches in length) play with. They appear to line up the left side and then aim to swim through the bubbles length ways..bit like a canoe going through a rough bit of water!.. This keeps me entertained for quite some time1. The adults just loll around with various body parts in ther bubbles..

I don't know if its possible to increase oxygenation with these bubbler ... or better I would deny. Oxygen will diffuse through the water surface because as every gas oxygen has its natural desire to spread all over in the same dimension. I think bubblers could help by circular flow to prevent from getting a skin/membrane [don't know the word in English] which could decrease this diffusion. If a given saturation is reached [depending on water temperature] you couldn't increase it over 100%.

Hey my juvi axies are riding the bubbles lol, aah it looks so sweet. They just started doing it this morning. Great fun to watch!
