Brown algae

What snails would be good for eating brown algae? I expect they'll eventually get eaten by my newt before I'm able to get the plants installed and growing.

I don't know if snails would be worth it. From what I've heard, there's a possibility of introducing parasites into the tank. I've also heard that snails can produce more waste than the waste they will take out. The snails might not be good for the newts either, depending on the species.

I added nerite snails to my newt tank; but snails do produce a lot of waste. You also need to make sure you give them lots to eat as well
