It will be a good day out for the family. Lots of amphibians to look at and loads of great people to chat with.

Right, the committee have just finished voting, and we have some good news for those of you who have IHS or CREAKS memberships.

We will now be offering a £2 discount (from our on the door sign up sub) on membership to those signing up on the door of our meetings who hold a current and valid CREAKS or IHS membership card, including IHS affiliate memberships from attending Doncaster.

This effectively means that members of these societies can sign up for membership to BAKS for £1 less than the cost of signing up via our website! Sorry though folks, we can't apply this discount to existing memberships. ;)

So far we are allocated one table. If anyone is interested on sharing a table with us could you let us know please. :D There is a danger of us running out of tables, so we may need to act quickly
Last time we had a couple of tanks with Ian's axolotl and ribbed newts and a couple of my Tylototriton verrucosus on display. I am hoping to bring a few of my surplus juveniles for sale too.

Less than two weeks to go . I will be bringing some of this years morphed Triturus marmoratus. with me :D

I'd like to come (with some frogs to bring) but there is no direct train from Manchester and hence the journey is quite expensive. Anyone coming from the Manchester area with whom I could cadge a lift (and contribute to petrol)?

There is however I direct train from Manchester to Wolverhampton, which is pretty much right on top of Cannock. It may even be possible to sort something out for you from Wolverhampton to the venue (especially if you are bringing frogs to sell), it really isn't far (I live in Wolverhampton myself).

I'll pm you with my mobile number if you'd like to try to sort something out?

Hi Ade,

OK - that might work. I need to confirm 100% that I can come first.

What frogs are you bringing Chris ? I know there will be axolotls (most available morphs) , alpine newts, clawed frogs and spanish ribbed newts

We may actually have more caudates at this one Ian than dart frogs. We also have folks bringing inverts, including flower beetle grubs, scorpions, assassin beetle nymphs, slugs, snails....

Ade

Mantella aurantiaca and Theloderma stellatum. I'm not sure if I can make it still, though. Depends on work...

Well, even if you can't make use of your own table, there's the caudata.org table organised by Julia, Jane and Ian for caudata.org members who want to share. Tends to always be a gathering there too of members taking the opportunity to meet each other and chat. ;) We should be able to give you folks a bit more space to socialise in this time.

BAKS is VERY caudate keeper friendly. A high percentage of our committee are after all caudata.org members.;) I'd love to see the caudata.org table one day become a caudata.org section, with multiple tables in a grouping, like a meeting within a meeting.

The show is tomorrow :D Unfortunately I am unable to attend this time:sad:

There should be a selection of salamanders, newts and frogs. Various live foods and equipment.
This is a great little show where you can speak to the breeders and get first hand advice on how to look after them.
If you are aiming to purchase any animals, it may be worth bringing insulated bags/ boxes to help with their journey home.

As expected, the turnout was small (that's what happens when you clash with Doncaster. lol). Still was fun, with a good variety of phibs, oh and naturally:-

;)

You could do with a bigger banner guys! lol

Oh and a lucky person won a 50cm x 40cm x 40cm glass viv made by DMS-Vivaria (no, that isn't me on the right. lol):-

The next meeting is on 13th April 2014 (just posted this in the April 2014 thread). Hope to see more of you there.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
