how should i help my adult female prepare for breeding? i’ve upped her food intake and have offered her lots of bloodworm treats to fatten her up a bit as i understand it takes quite a lot of nutrients to lay the amount of eggs she will.
also, i’m breeding her with a wildtype male who’s parents are both her leucistic. kip is het for golden, axanthic, and leucistic. will i get leucistic babies or all wildtypes? i’m pretty shaky when it comes to genetics, as my last class on it was freshman year of high school. i’m a junior now, and have significant memory loss, so that’s pretty much gone by now, anyways, thoughts anyone?
thanks!

To trigger breeding :
- feed well (exactly what you're planning ; give earthworms, not only bloodworms) the female, but also the male
- change part of the water
- rise the water level

If the female already has a plump body, she probably can breed readily.
Caution ! she will need to be very well fed during several weeks after laying because her ovaries will produce new ovocytes.

great, i’ve been feeding her much more bloodworm treats and earthworms as much as she will eat - so do a water change while they’re together? how much?
thanks for the reply :)

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
