I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to get my newts to breed. They are chinese warty newts from what I have read they need lower 60's for a while to breed. Is this accurate? And how would I go about getting this temperature for them? And is there anything else I need to know before I even try to get them to breed? I have 1 male and 1 female, just so everyone knows.

hi,
jenni prompted me a few days ago to respond-it just takes me a while sometimes. i have bred them before, i had an old pair (the female has since died) and all i really did was open the window in winter to get them down to temp-they were down to 50 though. when you see eggs remove them-if they hatch out they will eat them up faster than you can count them-the hatchlings are black. i morphed them fine but then got to a point where i just lost them 1 after another (it was also during a move) the morphs are very shy and not aggressive eaters. the females will lay on elodea-so that part is easy. just feed them alot on make sure they get down to temp and they should do the rest.

sounds easy enough thank you.
I look forward to trying that this winter.
