Alright I have a male CFB and I will be getting a female this friday and I want to breed them and I dont really know much about breeding them but I know you have to lower the temp to about 60F (i think). Can you please give me some info on how to breed them and how to lower the water temp from 70 to 60F. Also can you tell me what Ill need in the aquarium for the tadpoles I have a 5 gallon I could put them in or if thats to big i have a little one that I think is about 1 gallon. I havent ever raised newt tadpoles before but Ive raised bullfrog tadpoles.

As was mentioned there, ample feeding, preferably with some kind of worms, is an important part of the process. It takes time, both for quarantine and to fatten them up, so I suggest preparing for the temperature drop this winter, not now. Good luck!

Ok well I think I might have a female and it already mated because I found 2 bunches of stuff that look like a ton of eggs but their really small,it looks like one big sack with alot of white things in little sacs but their pretty small compared to other eggs ive seen. ive had the plant for about 3 or 4 days and it wasnt in with anything that coulduve layed eggs on it and ive had the newt for about 2 weeks. Can they be fertile doesnt a male fertilize them after their layed? My camera is really bad and i cant get a picture of them i dont think it could be a fungus or anything. They are on a java fern.

Hi Juston, Cynops orientalis lay small round eggs individually on leaves. Often they will try to hide the egg by folding the leaf around the egg. Have a look at the photos here: http://www.caudata.org/cc/articles/raising.shtml

What you have described sounds more like snail eggs. They may have been on the plant when you bought it or you have a snail in you tank that you haven't spotted.

Ok thanks mark I couldnt figure out what they were! I thought about it for a while and they are way to small to be newt eggs. thanks
