I just got home from the pet shop and popped him in the tank.

I’m a bit worried tho, I had originally picked another one from the tank and it was only about 2"'s . but the lady told me it didn't eat and that I should have this guy instead. So I took him. I have never had one before but he seems ok to me, apart from the weird "dry parts" on his tailfins and gills. I’m yet to give him a name.

Noice looking fella. I have one almost identical. I was also worried when I first got him as I thought it looked like a disease.
But I was told ( please someone jump right in if I am wrong) that it was just his colouring. Mine is still the same now.

yeah. It is just the colouring of the axolotl. It isnt diseased or anything. Beautiful axie Laura, but before somebody else tells you I thought I would let you know that you should take that gravel out and replace it with sand or leave the floor bare. This is because the axies can eat the rocks and cant digest them easily causing some problems you dont need.

thanks for the tip will get him some sand soo. he still hasn't eaten anything tho maybe he isn't hungry :p

Axies never eat when you first get them, they usually get their appetite back after a few days.

I love all these speckled tailed golden albinos i been seeing here. Great lookin little guy. He will eait, my first axie (from the pet store) took almost 3 weeks to eat. That was over 3 years ago. My second axoltol was from a person that breed them and it ate right away. I guess it depenends on the axie and how it deals with stress in its life.

For some reason when i saw it i thought of peanut butter and langka. I would name it peanutbutter and langka, but I name things strange...

Ehm, isn´t your little axie all covered in ammonia burns? I mean, look at the gills. I have only seen axis with such gills when there was to much ammonia in the water or a fungus infection. Well I´m no pro, but I suspect something is wrong with his gills. Or had they been bitten of in the pet store?

Yeah- if an axie's gills are small and have no "fluff" then it means that there's a really good amount of oxygen in the water, but yours has fluff and the gills are small, so they're either healing from getting nibbled or ammonia burns. Or both.

Answer to Callum B.- when I got my first axie, he ate a bit when I got him, and when I got my second he ate more then than he ever has again.
